Resort Policies

These policies are in place to ensure that all our guests enjoy their stay with us.
It is your responsibility to know them and abide by them.

RESORT, PROPERTY & CABIN POLICY

Quiet Hours are from 10 p.m. – 8 a.m. Disruptive guests will be asked to leave without receiving a refund.

NO SMOKING is allowed in any of our cabins or fish houses.  You will be assessed a minimum cleaning charge of $100 if for any reason your cabin has been smoked in or should require “excessive” cleaning.  Any damage caused to any resort property will be charged to the credit card on file for replacement cost value. 

Lifejackets are required on all paddleboats and kayaks, canoes or jet ski rentals.  The state of Minnesota requires that anyone under the age of 10 MUST be physically wearing one.

Please park in designated areas only.  Due to safety concerns, parking is NOT ALLOWED along the road by cabins 1 & 9 that runs to the beach.

Our Boat Launching hours are the same as our office hours except during inclement weather.  Our beach is private property, as is our neighbors.  Please respect their privacy and DO NOT TRESPASS on their property (lawns, docks, etc).

ATV’s and UTV’s cannot be ridden on resort property other than directly to/from a marked ATV trail. They should be stored on their trailer.  Area trail maps are available at the office.

Campfires are only allowed in our designated fire pits.  For the safety of all our guests we do not allow any fires on the beach.

Campers/Rv's/and tents are not allowed on Resort property. 

Our Beach is for registered resort guests only.  Children under the age of 13 must be supervised by an adult.  No lifeguard on duty.  Swim at your own risk.

Our towels are not to be used as beach towels.  They are white and the beach will ruin them resulting in a fee to be added to your room for replacement costs. We suggest you bring beach towels with you.

**We do not provide daily housekeeping service.  Our staff cleans before & after your stay.   If you require fresh linens or towels, please bring them to the office and our staff will be happy to exchange your dirty linens/towels for clean ones.


CABIN RESERVATIONS

All reservations require a 50% deposit or full payment. Check-in time begins at 3:00 p.m. and check out is no later than 10:00 a.m. To offer the best possible service to our guests, any deviation from the check-in or check-out times must be approved in advance and will be charged additional fees.  No exceptions.

All of our cabins are smoke free. We have multiple areas designated outside where you may smoke.

Day guests are $10 per a day and must register at the front desk. Additional overnight guest over the occupancy rate are $15 per person, per night. Prices do not include sales tax, lodging tax, or other service fees.

Note: Cabins and rooms may be subject to a minimum stay requirement of two, three, four or more nights based on the season.  Cabin reservations may also be required to arrive or leave on specific days of the week during peak seasons.  Please call the office for more information.  Hotel rooms require a two-night minimum on weekends.


Deposit Policy

A minimum of 50% or $50 (whichever is greater) is required as a deposit for all reservations. Deposits can be made in advance by cash, check or credit card. (We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover.)

 

Cancellation Policy

Appeldoorn's Sunset Bay Resort must be notified in advance for all cancellations.

Cancellations prior to 90 days out will not be charged a cancellation fee.

Cancellations 30 - 90 days prior to the reservation will be assessed a $50 cancellation fee.

No refund will be available with less than a 30 day notice, and you will forfeit your 50% deposit.


Check-In

Upon check in you will be required to provide a drivers license or ID to the front desk personnel.  We will also need your vehicle information including license plate number at that time.


Dog Policy

Dogs are allowed at the resort but are subject to certain fees and restrictions. Dogs must not be over 30 pounds in weight (unless receiving prior approval from management), kept on leash at all times, picked up after, and not left unattended in cabins.  Pets will be assessed a $20 per day, per pet charge. 

Breeds not allowed on property: Pit bulls, Bulldogs, Bullies, Doberman pinschers, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Great Danes, Cane Corso, Boxers, Bull Mastiff, Akita, Staffordshire or Bull Terriers of any kindS.  When in doubt, call ahead and ask management for clarification on any breed you may have.

We ask that your dog is pet and people friendly & up to date on vaccinations and flea preventative.

Please pick up after your dogs.  There are several pet stations with bags located on the resort grounds.  Disruptive dogs will be asked to leave without receiving any refund.  Dog swim hour runs from 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. every day of the week.  Pets must always be leashed while on resort grounds with the exception of our pet swim hours.

No cats allowed on property or in rooms.


Fish House Reservation Policy

A reservation confirmation will be issued when a deposit or full payment is received. Everyone must check-in at our office. This includes any guests you may have visiting. For safety reasons, we must know who is on the ice. Also, if you are expecting visitors while you are here, please make sure they have detailed directions to your location. It gets dark early and if someone arrives later in the day or evening, they may have trouble finding you.

There are potential fines and punishments with the DNR if we find anything other than a bait and hook down the ice hole (ex. human waste, trash, debris, etc). In addition to MN DNR involvement, resort penalties up to $100 may be applied if excessive cleaning is required due to any person’s disrespectful use of the fish house.
