The Lake

Appeldoorn’s Sunset Bay Resort is on Mille Lacs Lake, known the world over as a premier fishing lake for walleye, northern pike, bass, and muskie. With over 132,000 acres it is the second largest lake in Minnesota. Relax on Mille Lacs and enjoy the fresh northern air, the calls of loons in the background, and the breathtaking sunsets.

On The Water:

Appeldoorn’s Sunset Bay Resort provides all the necessities to make your time in the lake fun filled. Our private sand beach is perfect for the kids and soaking in the sun on the beach and in our swimming area. 

Our in lake water park is an exciting collection of inflatable attractions to keep guests of all ages engaged and entertained!  Boasting a oversided slide, trampolines and more...there will be no shortage of ways to enjoy your time in the lake.

We provide a number of water toys for your enjoyment. We also provide to our guests both smaller kayaks and paddle boats free of charge, a beachside shower, as well a showerhouse next to the main lodge for rinsing off in between swims.

At the resort, we also have available to rent: kayaks, paddle boards, jet skis, pontoons, and other boats. Check in with the front desk when you’re here for more information and availability.

Bringing your own boat or jet ski? We’ll launch it for you by tractor off of our private beach and you’re more than welcome to keep on one of our docks or in an available slip. Our docks also have plug ins available for you to charge overnight!

On The Shore:

After you’ve had as much fun on the lake as you can handle, check out our on shore activities. We have a jump pad, horseshoe pits, volleyball, basketball, and a variety of other lawn games that will help keep you active. If you’re looking to relax and take a breath; our beach and cabana area have shelter, picnic tables, and more available for your enjoyment. We have an arcade room with fun games, a pool table, and numerous prize machines. Our onsite fitness room will make sure you don’t have to skip your daily workout.

Stay Enhancements:

To help make your stay even more hassle free, Appeldoorn’s Sunset Bay Resort is happy to offer: onsite laundry room, general store with numerous food, drink, daily necessities, bait, tackle, gifts, and apparel options, off-sale liquor store, on-site bar and restaurant, wifi and a/c in all rooms and cabins. Our cabins are equipped with Roku enabled televisions including free TV and the ability to stream your favorite services!
